Global Beauties Miss World 2007 - Royal Flush
From Global Beauties: 107 contestants have arrived in Sanya, China, to participate in Miss World during a whole month of festivities, which will lead up to the crowning of a new queen, on December 1st. As every year, some delegates manage to grab more media attention than others, and as the Miss World race continues, eight Miss World experts will be voting for the candidates they believe are closer to the crown.

The Royal Flush of Beauty will be updated every 2-3 days, as the events unfold and new fast-track winners are announced.

Press Release - Vivian Leaves for China

Miss Grenada, Vivian Burkhardt, Grenada’s representative to the Miss World contest, left Grenada on October 30 for Sanya, China, accompanied by her mother, Valerie Daniel-Burkhardt. Vivian will be joined later in mid November by Jennifer Hosten, former Miss World (1970) and franchise holder.

While in China, Vivian will join other representatives of more than 100 countries in their bid for the prestigious Miss World crown. All contestants are expected to arrive in Sanya by November 2. During the month long stay they will take part in a number of scheduled activities and be photographed at many of China’s historic sites to highlight that country’s rich cultural heritage.

The contestants will take part in events such as: Beauty with a Purpose, Miss Fitness, the Talent Show, and Miss Top Model. All of these events will enable them to fast track to the semi finals of the Miss World.

It is expected that over two billion viewers will see this year’s Miss World finals. “It has been such a long time since Grenada had a representative that I expect there is a special interest in viewing this year’s event.” Said Jennifer Hosten. “We all wish Vivian the Very best and know that she will represent Grenada well abroad.”

Virgin Atlantic Airlines, sponsor of the Grenada team, will fly members as far as Hong Kong for the event. “I would like to take this opportunity to thank Virgin, as well as certain individuals for their assistance. We could not do this without their help.” Said Ms. Hosten.

Press Release - Miss Grenada World to Give Preview Talent Performance
Miss Vivian Burkhardt, Grenada’s representative to the Miss World contest who will be leaving for China on October 31, 2007, will give a preview talent performance at the upcoming Fund Raising Fashion Show that is scheduled to take place between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on October 13 at the Grenadian by Rex Resort.

The Fashion extravaganza, will feature the stunning designs of one of the Caribbean’s leading designers, Ms. Claudia Pegus and Grenada’s own Jessie Anne Jessimy. The collection of gowns by Ms. Pegus is one of the largest to be shown by the designer in Grenada. Claudia Pegus is also creating the gown that will be worn by Vivian at the Miss World contest.

The event which begins with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, will feature Vivian Burkhardt, along with former Miss Grenada World contestants and many other local models. The occasion provides the first opportunity for Vivian to perform her talent before a live audience. “I believe that patrons of the Fashion Show on October 13 are in for a real treat” said Jennifer Hosten, former Miss World (1970) and franchise holder of the Miss Grenada World contest.

Vivian Burkhardt will leave for Sanya, China on October 31 on Virgin Atlantic Airways.
Virgin will fly the team as far as Hong Kong where connections will be made for the final leg of the flight to Sanya. Vivian will be accompanied by her mother, Valerie Daniel-Burkhardt. Other members of the team are expected to travel to China in mid November to provide support to Grenada’s representative. “It has been such a long time since Grenada took part in the Miss World that there is quite a lot of excitement being generated around Grenada’s participation. We expect Vivian to do very well”. Said Ms. Hosten.

MISS GRENADA WORLD RETURNS FROM TRAINING AND SHOPPING TRIPS, Grenada Broadcast
St. George, August 20, 2007 -- Vivian Burkhardt, the reigning Miss Grenada World, 2007, Grenada’s representative at the next Miss World Contest scheduled to be held in Sanya, China before a worldwide TV audience of an estimated two billion viewers on December 01, has recently enjoyed visits to both Canada and the United States.

In Canada Vivian was trained in the latest modeling techniques while in Miami she shopped for her Miss World wardrobe. “I wish to thank my sponsors Prickly Bay Waterside for making my Miami visit possible and Saks Fifth Avenue for all of the assistance they provided to make my shopping expedition in Miami so successful.”

Vivian returned to Grenada just in time to take part in the Carnival festivities. She participated with the winning band and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. “I was afraid that my schedule would have kept me away for Carnival. I only just made it back in time.” said Vivian.

“Vivian’s training will continue this week right up till she leaves for China on October 30. As you can imagine, the competition will be stiff but we are confident that with the right amount of preparation and dedication, Vivian stands an excellent chance. Her confidence level is good” said Mrs. Jennifer Hosten, former Miss World (1970) and Franchisee for the Miss Grenada World pageant.

Vivian has thanked all Grenadians for their support and invites them to continue this support when online voting starts. During the months of October and November it is expected that all Miss World contestants will be voted for via the Miss World website at (www.missworld.org). The contestants who gain the highest number of votes have the opportunity to be fast tracked into the Miss World finals.
